Top Independent School Districts on Twitter Announced
ISDs in the Effective Schools Project to be honored at Social Media Conference
The top 5 independent school districts on Twitter will be honored at the 5th Annual Social Media Conference in Fort Worth, Texas.
FORT WORTH, Texas — The Texas Social Media Research Institute (@TSMRI) will present statewide social media awards at the 5th Annual Texas Social Media Conference (#TXSocialMedia) in Fort Worth, Texas, on Friday, Nov. 6, 2015. Five Effective Schools Project independent schools districts will be honored at the #TXSocialMedia Conference.

In this category, school districts within the Effective Schools Project (ESP) were analyzed for their use of Twitter. The Effective Schools Project is one of the nation's largest and longest-running school-improvement ventures. Thirty-seven school districts in North and Central Texas were members of ESP at the time of this social media evaluation.
Six weeks (November 1, 2014 to December 15, 2014) of tweets were captured (1,951 individual tweets) and coded for each of the ESP districts (37 members during the 2014-2015 school year) with a district Twitter account. Official Twitter accounts were identified by visiting the district’s website. Each tweet was evaluated for its display of one-way vs. two-way communication, original messaging vs. re-tweets (RTs), number of RTs/favorites, and use of photography, graphics and videos. Three researchers reviewed the tweets and coding scheme.
